Progress

First 10 Days: $1000 in hand and about $3000 promised. If we did this each week, I would have it in time to go in June! Isn't God awesome? Even if He doesn't want me to go in June, He is really encouraging me and letting me know He is in this.

Who is Davin?

I know there are some people who don't know Davin stopping by to check out what's going on, so I thought I would share a bit about him. I know he gave a quick overview of who he is but I thought I, his mother, would brag about him a little bit. Davin was born in the highlands of Papua New Guinea and lived there until he was 1 year old, He is now 17 years old, is the oldest of 6 kids, his next sibling is a girl, the rest are all boys. He is an awesome big brother, in fact the younger ones are not happy about the prospect of him leaving. He will be missed terribly. Davin has been homeschooled his whole life, except 2 months, he attended the West Nairobi School in Kenya, Africa, for the last 2 months of kindergarten. Davin's decision to go isn't an isolated event. He is very service oriented. In fact he won the Walton County 4-H Citizenship Award this year. He helps out and serves at our church, he helps alot of people however he can and he serves at a nursing home once a month. Last year he went to Brazil for a month to help family serving as missionaries there. If he was just interested in serving overseas he could go back to Brazil. But he wants the training and disciplin he'll get from YWAM as well. He is considering full time missions as his career so is hoping this will give him a broader view of what is involved. He loves the Lord and is seeking diligently to follow Him. He is doing great about not having a specific time to go, or knowing exactly where but leaving it up to God and allowing Him to decide. Do you have any specific questions? If so send them in a comment and Davin will be happy to answer them! Blessings, Davin's mom

God's Math

Here's a post from Davin's facebook group the journey: So I'm going to try to do a post a day and also either answer a question or tell about my calling. So feel free to post a question, verse or any words of wisdon you might have. Growing up in a Christian home I have never really known impossiblities, if someone can walk on water, part the sea, wipe out an army with a bone or feed thousands with only a little bread a fish, then what would be impossible? All those things were not impossibilities they were miracles. So raising $10,000 doesn't seem all that hard. Well unles you really think about it. If you take God out of the equation that's were the math gets tricky. God + faith = miracle. faith - God =maybe?? The math does not work no matter how you look at it, without God it would pointless. So today I ask you all to pray that God would be ever present throughout this journey!

Davin's reason

One of the things my mom asked me when I said I wanted to go on this mission trip was, "why?"  I thought you might be interested in knowing that too.  So here is my reason.  I've always known that I wanted to serve God but I am not sure where or how He wants me to serve.  I am hoping this will give me some clarity as well as giving me a real taste of foreign missions and a vision of different ways to serve.

It Begins

Davin has decided God is leading him to give up summer vacation and several other things to go on a mission trip.  Not just any mission trip but one in which he will not only share the gospel but will learn how to share his faith effectively.  Not just a fun short term trip but a 5 month commitment to work, to learn and to give.  He feels God is really calling him to step out in faith.  If he is to go on the June team he needs $10,000 in the next 20 days!
