What did I decide?

Here is another update about how I am doing and what's going on.

First off I want all of you to know I am going to be staying in India three months after DST finishes. :)

When I first heard that we could stay in India to do a missionary internship I thought, "there is no way I could do that because there are a lot of things I left back in GA that I should finish". Then I started praying and felt like God was telling me that I could stay in India if I wanted. So I prayed about it long and heard and God put a question in my mind, "why not stay?" And really I could not think of any reason not to stay, so I told God I would stay.

This week we learned about taking every step with God. I mean, when you see someone walking on the side walk and you feel like God's telling you to talk with them, do it! It could save their life.

I also had the opportunity to do out reach Sunday and Monday just walking around Boise and talking with people God lead us to.

Finally, An Update!

Hey all I know it been awhile since you have heard from me. I have been so busy out here but I wanted to let you all know what's going on. I am staying at the YWAM camp. We stay in cabins, I share a cabin with three other guys. There are ten of us on the team 4 guys and 6 girls. When I wake up in the moring it is below freezing out and snow is coming fast, you can see it on the tops of mountains.

I have been learning a lot! One of the most meaningful things I have learned is how much the world needs people to share the Good News, the world is starving to hear the Good News, and God has chosen me to be one of them. I am also learning about Indian culture, how they live and what they eat, it's really cool.

As for me, I am doing good with most of the school stuff out here but I am having a hard time learning Hindi, the language they speak where we will be working. Right now I know for sure is it will be in the north.

If you would like something to pray about, pray for God to prepare the hearts of the people where we will be working. Also for my language learning, other studies and my health.

Last Night at Home

I can't believe I am leaving tomorrow. I have all my shots, all my money in and everything packed up and ready to go. I have to get up at 4:30am to leave for the airport. My flight leaves at 7:35am and I arrive in ID at 12:40 their time, after 1 plane change and 7:05 hours of travel time. Then I have a 2 hour drive to Cascade. I would really appreciate your prayers for: favor with TSA, no lost or damaged luggage, I make my connecting flight, I stay awake when I am not on the plane and for safty in travel. I am sure I have a ton of other prayer requests but I will let you know them later. Thank you to everyone who has made this journey possible.

It's Off!

My deposit that is! I actually have enough to pay almost the whole thing but I am suppose to send in a couple of items with my next payment and I didn't have them yet, passport photos, my bio and my flight info! But I will get those this week and get the next payment out. Then I will only have the payment for my outreach phase. I only need about $2000 for that and we are doing several fundraiser for that. I am sure God will supply the need. The first fundraiser is a yard sale at Christ Community Church on hwy 138 in Monroe, for anyone in the area. It will be Friday, Aug. 3. The second one will be an auction. Check back here after the yard sale for details. We'll see if we need to do anything else. It is so exciting to see how God is moving, I am so glad you are joining me on this journey.

It's Official!

I have officially been accepted by YWAM to attend DTS this fall. I leave for Idaho Sept. 8 for training. From there I will go to Northern India. I will return home mid Feb. I have started getting shots, packing and figuring out what I still need! One thing I know I still need are some more committed prayer partners and about $2000 more! We will be doing some fun fundraising things next month. Be sure to come back to see all that is going on. Right now we are collecting things to auction off and for prizes. If you have a service or an item you would be willing to donate please let me know. Also on August 3rd we'll be having a yardsale, bake sale, and vender shopping extravaganza at Christ Community Church on hwy 138 in Monroe, GA. If you have a home business that you would like to highlight please contact me. If you would like to set up an area to sell stuff, yard sale or new, let me know. We'd love to have you come join us.

What is going on?

My prayer has been, "Don't allow the money to come in if you don't want me to go this summer". God has brought in enough money to show me He does want me to go, but not enough for me to go this summer. So I am planning on going to Idaho in Sept. for training and then to Northern India for outreach. It's hard to say exactly where I am with the finances because I have a lot of people who have told me they are giving but not the amount. Plus I have several friends who have committed to find 20 people give $5, and I am not sure how that is coming. But I do know I don't need as much for this team. I only have about $2500 left to raise. That is 5 people to give $500, 25 people to give $100, 100 people to give $25, 500 people to give $5, or any combination! It has been awesome to see how God has worked and moved. So much of the money has been given by people who are already on the mission field and faith supported themselves. Money has come from strangers, friends, loved ones, and everything in between. Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far and helped spread the word. I am available to work and open to suggestions for fundraisers.

Could you help me make it happen?

Can God raise $10,000 in 20 days? Absolutely! And I want to invite you to be part of this miracle. I am looking for 200 people to give $5 (more is fine too) this weekend. That is just giving up one Starbucks coffee or a Happy Meal or a Pizza. Would you be willing to do that to be part of spreading the word of God around the world? If you can't give could you help by sending others here? Total I need 2000 people to give $5 but we already have over $1000 in hand and $3000-$4000 promised. Yes I need more then 200 people by June 10th but it would be a huge encouragement to me to see that happen this weekend. What if I don't get the all the money by 6/10? Well I will go in Aug. but I feel God has at least asked me to trust Him and try to raise it to go in June. His timing is perfect so I know if I am not to go in June then all the money won’t come in. But it is so exciting to see how God is providing. And it will be a miracle if He provides it that quickly!

Progress

First 10 Days: $1000 in hand and about $3000 promised. If we did this each week, I would have it in time to go in June! Isn't God awesome? Even if He doesn't want me to go in June, He is really encouraging me and letting me know He is in this.

Who is Davin?

I know there are some people who don't know Davin stopping by to check out what's going on, so I thought I would share a bit about him. I know he gave a quick overview of who he is but I thought I, his mother, would brag about him a little bit. Davin was born in the highlands of Papua New Guinea and lived there until he was 1 year old, He is now 17 years old, is the oldest of 6 kids, his next sibling is a girl, the rest are all boys. He is an awesome big brother, in fact the younger ones are not happy about the prospect of him leaving. He will be missed terribly. Davin has been homeschooled his whole life, except 2 months, he attended the West Nairobi School in Kenya, Africa, for the last 2 months of kindergarten. Davin's decision to go isn't an isolated event. He is very service oriented. In fact he won the Walton County 4-H Citizenship Award this year. He helps out and serves at our church, he helps alot of people however he can and he serves at a nursing home once a month. Last year he went to Brazil for a month to help family serving as missionaries there. If he was just interested in serving overseas he could go back to Brazil. But he wants the training and disciplin he'll get from YWAM as well. He is considering full time missions as his career so is hoping this will give him a broader view of what is involved. He loves the Lord and is seeking diligently to follow Him. He is doing great about not having a specific time to go, or knowing exactly where but leaving it up to God and allowing Him to decide. Do you have any specific questions? If so send them in a comment and Davin will be happy to answer them! Blessings, Davin's mom

God's Math

Here's a post from Davin's facebook group the journey: So I'm going to try to do a post a day and also either answer a question or tell about my calling. So feel free to post a question, verse or any words of wisdon you might have. Growing up in a Christian home I have never really known impossiblities, if someone can walk on water, part the sea, wipe out an army with a bone or feed thousands with only a little bread a fish, then what would be impossible? All those things were not impossibilities they were miracles. So raising $10,000 doesn't seem all that hard. Well unles you really think about it. If you take God out of the equation that's were the math gets tricky. God + faith = miracle. faith - God =maybe?? The math does not work no matter how you look at it, without God it would pointless. So today I ask you all to pray that God would be ever present throughout this journey!

Davin's reason

One of the things my mom asked me when I said I wanted to go on this mission trip was, "why?"  I thought you might be interested in knowing that too.  So here is my reason.  I've always known that I wanted to serve God but I am not sure where or how He wants me to serve.  I am hoping this will give me some clarity as well as giving me a real taste of foreign missions and a vision of different ways to serve.

It Begins

Davin has decided God is leading him to give up summer vacation and several other things to go on a mission trip.  Not just any mission trip but one in which he will not only share the gospel but will learn how to share his faith effectively.  Not just a fun short term trip but a 5 month commitment to work, to learn and to give.  He feels God is really calling him to step out in faith.  If he is to go on the June team he needs $10,000 in the next 20 days!
